First, remember that the leather needs to be cased (wetted). Use a wet sponge to moisten the entire piece of leather evenly. Otherwise, if you don’t wet all the leather, you will get water spots on the finished project. We create the images you see in this listing using a press and a thick piece of leather placed on top of the stamp to spread out the pressure. Arbor Press Instructions: Place your cased leather on a strong, solid surface directly under the press’s anvil. Put the stamp on top of the cased leather. Place a solid block (wood or metal works best) on top of the stamp. This helps to spread the pressure evenly. Apply slow, downward pressure with the press and hold it for 15-20 seconds. Check your result. Repeat as needed to get the perfect depth. Vise Instructions: Put your cased leather and the stamp between two hard objects, like a board. Squeeze them tightly so the stamp does not move. Place this setup inside your vise. Tighten the vise slowly and hold the pressure for 15-20 seconds.
